Releasing the Pain of Grief and Finding Hope

Renowned grief expert David Kessler returns to the Cathedral for a two-day summit on navigating loss. David provides a compassionate and understanding space for participants to explore their grief and find ways to cope with their emotions. The gathering on Monday, Oct. 6, will provide practical tools for healing, addressing topics including the loss of parents and spouses, and anticipatory grief. The evening begins with a panel discussion by faith-based pastoral and grief professionals, followed by a keynote presentation by David Kessler, plus time for Q&A to help you navigate the emotional and spiritual journey of grief with compassion and understanding.

David Kessler is one of the world’s foremost experts on grief and loss. His experience with thousands of people on the edge of life and death has taught him the secrets to living a happy and fulfilled life, even after life’s tragedies. He is the author of seven books, including the bestselling book, Finding Meaning: The Sixth Stage of Grief, as well as the new Finding Meaning Companion Workbook. His first book, The Needs of The Dying, received praise from many including Saint Mother Teresa. David’s personal experience as a child witnessing a mass shooting while his mother was dying in a hospital helped him begin his journey. For most of his life, David has taught physicians, nurses, counselors, police, and first responders about the end of life, trauma, and grief. David’s volunteer work includes being a founding member of Project Angel Food, a non-profit organization that prepares and delivers healthy meals to feed people impacted by serious illness. He currently serves on the board of The Farrah Fawcett Foundation which provides cancer research, patient assistance, and prevention efforts. His new online model of grief support, Tender Hearts, offers over twenty-five groups. Additionally, David leads one of the most respected Grief Educator Certification programs. He is the founder of Grief.com.
